Welcome to Travelsauro! Your hiking, travel and adventure hub!
Travelsauro’s story began in 2010, when Miguel started his long trip around the world. Today, Travelsauro is a resource for everyone who seeks to combine adventure travel and outdoor sports.
I travel to the world’s most remote regions and most adventurous countries, taking part in a variety of sports in each region. Are you interested in traveling, hiking, trail running and scuba diving? This is your site.
Why trust Travelsauro? Because all articles are based on 12 years of travel experience, participation in a lot of adventure sports, and the testing of a lot of gear. I suggest cool countries to visit, provide information about hiking trails, offer advice for scuba beginners, etc.
Although I visit “touristy” countries such as Peru, Spain or Switzerland, most articles focus on the little-visited areas of those countries. For instance, you’ll find articles about the Huayhuash trek in Peru and the Markha Valley in Kashmir. If you take a look at the section about Indonesia, you won’t see any posts about Bali. However, you will find lots of information about Sumatra, Timor and Papua.
Travelsauro has received mentions in several online magazines, journals and websites, including top world websites. I’m not saying this to brag. I just want you to know that this site is recognized by the media and the travel industry.
Some of the most important mentions:
Business Insider: 26 hiking trails around the world that should be on your bucket list
Self: 12 hiking destinations you’ll want to add to your bucket list
Expedia: Blogger picks, Lakeside Hotels
La Vanguardia: 10 places you should visit in Venezuela (in Spanish)
Nomad Revelations: Inspirational adventure blogs you have to follow
This last mention is especially exciting because it comes from João Leitão, one of the most reputable travelers in the world.
A little bit about me:
My name is Miguel and I am from the Basque Country, Spain. Several years ago, I was an architect in Barcelona. I had a good life and a good job. However, every day, I felt something in my stomach calling me to travel. Conveniently enough, I lost my job due to the crisis in Europe. No doubt, this was when my new life began!
Since then, I cannot stop traveling. It’s my thing. It’s what I do best.
My travels have taken me to amazing places such as Georgia, Venezuela, Mali, Guinea, Senegal and Dominica. In every place I visit, I try to combine my passion for hiking, scuba diving and photography.
Among my best experiences are hiking along the Andes, crossing the Sahara desert, scuba diving in Sipadan and living in a favela in Rio de Janeiro.
